Hickman County, with its three museums, its historical significance and its
many artists and craftspeople, wants to be known as a place to come for history, art and great crafts.
The Arts Council prepared and filed a 120+
page application to the Kentucky Arts Council seeking such a designation. City and county officials passed resolutions in
city council and fiscal court supporting the application.
No deadline has been set for the state organization to reach a decision on whether to declare
a whole county a cultural district. Most other districts are neighborhoods and small areas.
Hickman Countians know their exciting heritage - now
we want the rest of the world to find us!
