The Hickman County Arts Council is made up of local citizens from all walks of life, all ages and stages, who
want to promote the arts, literature, history and culture in Hickman County.
The Council originally was founded in 1988, fell asleep for awhile and woke up again in January 2006. We meet
the fourth Monday of every month at the Young Center of the Clinton First Methodist Church at 4:00 p.m (cdt). The public
is welcome to attend.

ARTS COUNCIL
MEMBERS ATTEND Quilt Trails Workshop Museum of the American Quilters' Society Friday, March 30th 10:00
AM - 2:30 PM A Special Report
Four Arts Council members - Katie Beck,
Rose Berry, Melissa Goodman and Mary Potter attended the Seminar at the MAQS. There were about twenty five people there from
all sorts of backgrounds - professional and volunteers who came to learn more about the Quilt Trails Project. We learned there
are 130 Quilt Squares throughout Eastern Kentucky where the project has taken off like a rocket.
Presenter Judy
Sizemore brought forms, directions, advice and ideas to the group. We found out that organization can be very structured with
a plan for a Quilt Trail for tourists to follow. Quilt projects can link naturally with oral history projects. Judy stressed
that the quilt pattern's story is important to learn and share.
Thanks go to Judy and Susan for sharing
their time with us and helping us launch our own quilt square program.
