A Special Report

Four Arts Council members - Katie Beck, Rose Berry, Melissa Goodman and Mary Potter attended the Seminar at the MAQS. There were about twenty five people there from all sorts of backgrounds - professional and volunteers who came to learn more about the Quilt Trails Project. We learned there are 130 Quilt Squares throughout Eastern Kentucky where the project has taken off like a rocket.

Presenter Judy Sizemore brought forms, directions, advice and ideas to the group. We found out that organization can be very structured with a plan for a Quilt Trail for tourists to follow. Quilt projects can link naturally with oral history projects. Judy stressed that the quilt pattern's story is important to learn and share.

Thanks go to Judy and Susan for sharing their time with us and helping us launch our own quilt square program.
