Dr. Kenneth Tucker, a retired Murray State English professor, is offering three of his books at the Fair. He has a new fantasy out that brings a Kentucky flavor to the Mark Twain story of King Arthur’s Court. “A Kentucky Colonel in King Arthur’s Court” is the tale of Hank, son of a wealthy Louisville family and his quest to save Arthur’s court from the plotting of a black knight. Along the way Hank deals with a mangy werewolf, talking salmon, man eating witches, walking eyes, and a magical forest. Humor and satire blend in a story in the style of early twentieth century fantasy. Also included in the book is “Swamp Maiden of Venus”, a bittersweet tale of youthful romance and a boy’s addiction to fantasy.

Tucker will also be offering a “Wilderness of Tigers”, a fictionalized account of the Harpe Brothers, two of the earliest recorded serial killers who terrorized West Kentucky in the 1790’s. The Harpes and their three women followers killed thirty five people on the Western frontier. Tucker’s hero, Silas Magby, must find and stop the Harpes before they carry out their threat to kill his family.

Tucker’s third book, “The Grave and the Figure Eight” is the story of young Terence Garth, who returns to West Kentucky after the First World War to heal from wounds in body and soul. He falls in love with Isabel, his uncle’s wife, and their story becomes one of lust, betrayal, outlawry, alcoholism, murder and possibly redemption.
