Retired Army Colonel Larry Arnett, a respected military historian and avid book collector will be coming from Frankfort to
share two works. His first book, “Call to Arms”, is a series of vignettes on Kentucky military history. His second
and most recent book is “A Bibliography and Collector’s Guide of Kentucky Authors and Their Books”. An
indispensable guide for collecting first editions, the book lists authors famous and not so famous, their published works,
dates of publication and publishers. Using Arnett’s bibliography will help Kentucky collectors home in books and authors
that will enrich their collections. These two very different books demonstrate Arnett’s intellectual curiosity and his
considerable research skills.
Colonel Arnett, a decorated
Vietnam War veteran, began his career in 1973 when he joined the Kentucky National Guard. He commanded troops at all levels
from platoon through the brigade levels and took over 500 troops to the 1991 Persian Gulf War. He retired recently from a
public service career that included a stint as State Director of Veterans Affairs and Executive Director of the Office of
Kentucky Veteran Centers.
