Local Student Artist On Display
by Danny Whitlock The Hickman County Arts Council has arranged a display of the work of local art students in
the display case located in the hallway of the courthouse. Mr. Rick Harrison, the art instructor for Hickman
County Schools, asked his students in grades 2 through 12 to make available their drawings, watercolors, and sketches.
When asked about K-1 Rick commented, “My K-1 students are very possessive of their art projects and not inclined
to let them out of their sight.” The students whose work is on display include:
Grade 2 – Jasmine Pickard, Gabby Collins, Tolley Cole, and Dakota McKinney; Grade 3
– Madelyne Reynolds, Alyssa Moore, and DeLaney Boaz; Grade 4 – Austin Cantrell, Morgan Coates,
Alana Ferguson, Lauren Jenkins, and Tyler Westbrooks; Grade 5 – Savannah Sublette, Alec Stephens, Abby
Coffey, and Tony Pick; Grade 6 – Brooke Jackson, Kayla Boaz, Rayshun Shields, Hannah Mangrum, Steven
Allen, and Peyton Rodriguez; Grade 9 – Cord Hastings, Isaac Harrison, and Alex Allen; Grade
10 – Steven Turner, Rebekka Gault, and Jeffery Vinson; Grade 12 – Brittany Hernandez
and Katherine Byassee. HCAC encourages the community to stop by and enjoy the
work of these very talented students. The group also thanks Mr. Harrison and his students for their cooperation.
The next HCAC meeting is set for August 24th at 4:00 p.m. in the Young Center. New members
or visitors are always welcome and donations can be made to the treasurer, Henry Brazzell.
